    Buy a better LCD :D

If I was to get a new CRT, it'd be at least one of those 19"/20" jobs. I'd
guess that corrected, the screen should be ok.

Gus, if you're going to use an old, marginal quality CRT as a second monitor: NO PROBLEM! Just set it up for your palettes and what-not and leave your image on the other CRT. Who cares how accurate your palettes are. You'll get all that extra real estate and won't sacrifice color accuracy.

Hey, I was being good! I just wanted credit for it. And acknowledgment that not ALL my advice centers around lifting your knuckles up from dragging on the ground and getting Boobies...

ok...i'll bite. As CRT's are now quite cheap...which 19" do you consider good quality ?

Dont give me answers to questions i havnt asked either...im onto the bloody both of you davids for trying this on !!!

I don't know anything of value about CRTs, except that if you have one of marginal quality it would be fine for your palettes, and you could save yourself some money. If you're looking for accuracy, ask others who have done research on it. You probably know more about it than I do, Gus.

Getting back at the question at hand.... since photography is now digital, and hence is about the numbers, one should (and this is subjective really) be able to edit just fine on nearly anything that displays something remotely close to OK quality.

Using histograms, curves, and many other tools are independent of what you are seeing. OK, they're not really independent, but I think you know what I'm saying. Adjust the histo, and picto is better. Skintones are more difficult to determine of course, but there are those few who can just look at the CMYK or RGB values, and go from there.

As long as the monitor is a part-time use, it should be adequate.

However, nothing beats a good display, LCD or CRT.

i am with you on this-unless its a very high end LCD/TFT screen they just dont compete in terms of image quality

i have an LG 19" CRT-a pretty good price and very good specs-flat screen

had it for about a year or so

    worth checking them out

    good luck

I have a nice LaCie CRT, but they're not as inexpensive as the one you found, Gus. Excellent quality, though.

I have a Viewsonic 19" graphics professional model. This monitor is getting old , I bought it in 99 I think. Until very recently I thought LCD's were bad until I the last gen of 20 and 24 inch widescreens. As far as CRT's I think Viewsonic, Sony, and LaCie Blue are very good monitors.
