I know what you mean. I was actually thinking the same thing. Some river people like little framed 4x6 photos that evoke boating and the water; and this would work in that context. But I think that maybe a series of similar images would work better conceptually. Thanks for commenting!
FYI. I took about five captures. The exposure was good on them all. But some of them cut off the lever ends and/or were framed tighter and some were at an angle that obscured the lettering. Looking at them in the studio, I didn't like the tighter framed versions and preferred both lever balls to show. This was the only one in which all the elements came together in a satisfying way. I'm not always satisfied with my B&W conversions, but I like this one. There is no toning at all, just straight B&W.
