So Nikon will soon be marketing a 350D look-a-like.
I talked to a coworker who plans to buy a 20D, even though she's not a photographer. She wants piccies of her children. Her reason for pickin the 20D?
Because it has no shutter lag.
Does she really think that doing those kinds of photos she will see a difference between the 65ms of the 20D and the 100ms of the 350xt?
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like 50% of the people with 20D's would be better suited by a 350xt with more money spent on lenses.

That's pretty much my point, she's buying a howitzer to kill an ant. It's the mind-set that I find interesting. And it supports some of the points in the linked article., about the increasing popularity of dSLR's.

It's funny how just a few years ago spending upwards of $1000.00 on a slr camera (film at the time) would have been out of the question for most of these same consumers. After the thrill of digital dies some it may cool on the dslr's. Especially considering the new P/S's.

I know better than to mess with that kind of mind set. She has the money, let her spend it if it makes her happy. Who am I to preach about having equipment that's better than the shooter will ever be? :uhoh
Shutter lag is really annoying, especially with kids.
Yeah, but...I got rid of point-and-shoot shutter lag by getting a Rebel XT, and I actually practice photography. For a non-photographer to casually pick up a 20D...is she just going to stick a Quanteray lens on it, or is it a case of having so much disposable income that she will also casually pick up that EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM that I simply could not fit in my budget?

She won't be buying a Sensor Brush. Whatever lens she puts on it, will likely never leave the camera. That's my guess.
How are they morphing into Canon? By doing good business in the camera market?
I believe 4labs was referring to the shorter time between camera models.
The 'new model every year' thing is often mentioned by Nikonians as a reason to buy Nikon, because you don't have the pressure to keep upgrading the body rather than go out and learn the camera you have. This is usually followed by hearkening back to the 'good old days' when you bought a Nikon SLR and it lasted 20 years. Or maybe they're jealous.
