Well it's getting warmer out here in the NE!
Found this guy creeping around on my porch screen.
Took him out to a bush so he could model for me in all his gruesomeness! :D

Done with natural early morning sun light with my Sigma 105 Macro.
(FULL MANUAL MODE)

Tried some Ladybugs earlier but they kept flying away before I could snap a frame! :rofl

Still practicing bug macro's so any nit-picks are welcome!:dunno

    Wrong Bug ID
    I goofed it's not a Bee Assassin!

    It's a Leaf Footed Bug

Thats a cousin to the Assassin Bug that bit me on the neck last summer. I have no desire to handle one to photograph it. Actually I did photograph one a few weeks ago after my buddy squished it on the sidewalk. :D

The Assassin Bug is the only known vector for the American Sleeping Sickness or Chagas. They dont have to bite you either as the poop is contaminated.

    Anyway, cool bug pic:-)

Actually do some checking with someone who studies bugs. I believe that it is in the same family. Reduviidae (Assassin Bugs). It is just a different variety than the one that got me.

The one that got me is a juvenile in the photo above. It is called a nymph or first instar phase.

Here are some more photos. I think your is down towards the bottom listed as a masked hunter.

    Good shots.
You'll find it easier to take pics with a diffused flash- better contrast control and can use smaller apertures around f11/f13 for better DOF.
