    Hey Rene,

Great start with those outstanding pics. Nothing like a few well exposed raptor shots to get you off on the right foot. :D

    welcome to Dgrin. wave.gif

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Nice series of shots, Rene. Really like the osprey. One of my favorite birds. We see a lot of these here in sunny Florida.

Welcome to Dgrin and hope to see more of your photos. thumb.gifthumb.gif

Thank you! You are lucky to live in sunny Florida, a birders paradise!

We go back every year (to North Captiva island) and when we come back home we start counting down the days till our next trip.

while the bird shots are outstanding, it was the sea star that grabbed my attention. Cool shotthumb.gif I was surprised to see it wading through the sand like that (the tracks it left are way cool), but I thought most sea stars were found on rocky bottoms.

    again, welcome

Thanks Colleen! These guys seem to like to hang out by the shore...every morning I'd find a bunch of them exposed by the low tide, then they'd start their long treck back to the sea.

Thanks Cookies! The moon is real and that's really how it appeared over the nest - I took 2 shots, one exposed for the osprey and one exposed for the moon and merged them in PS. I use an XT (well, 2 of them) and although I have a handful of lenses I mostly use a Canon 400mm f5.6L and a Sigma 28-300 DG Macro.

Wow...what a way to kick off a first post here! Your Osprey shot reminds me of some of the photos I've seen from an excellent bird photographer (J. Michael Wilhelm) who leads photo tours (in his boat) around the rookeries near Punta Gorda, FL . Great job on all your pics...you really have an eye for good comps and timing. Nice editing, too~

    Cheers!
