I have no idea were to post this so I'll post it here and let some one move it if it's in a bad loaction. Was wondering if any of you could recumend or do wedding photography. I have found several good ones but still fighting with the future mother in law about rates and so on... This will be in walnut creek.. thats in the SF bay area... Contra costa area. If you do it or know of some one that would be great. The only request I have is it's digital with a 20d or better or nicon d70 or better and we get a copy of the image files. You can e-mail me sites or phone number to my personal e-mail address at vlcbear2@comcast.net:dunno

What are her objections to the photographers you've found? Price, style? Need more details...There are a gazillion photographers in the bay area!
Keep us posted on the selection process.
Yes, there are a bunch of us here you could hire!

I can't help you with the photographer thing, but d00d, seriously, don't EVER argue with your MIL. Or your wife. Don't argue. Trust me, ain't worth it. If you lose you lose, and if you win you lose. That's lose/lose. Not good.

I agree with Dee, more details needed both for the kind of photographer you are looking for and what is the reason for the current rejections.

Did anyone shoot your engagement photos? Sometimes, that's a good way to get to know a prospective photographer.
Ask around with your friends and see if you can borrow wedding books. If your MIL sees something she likes, it may downplay any other concerns.
Why is your MIL having that much to say about your, and your fiancé’s, photographer? Is this going to be an ongoing problem? If she is set on some rate, maybe you can contribute additional funds to get the person "You" (plural) both want to have?
Good luck,

Who's paying?
Dgrin FAQ | Me | Workshops
She is paying but dosn't want to pay the 50% deposit.. more like a 25% and rest after we get proofs. Were they want 50% up front and the other 50% before the date.

People flake out -- tell your MIL that if for any reason the wedding is cancelled the photographer (and his hired assistant) have lost out on the full price they'd get from booking another wedding in it's place.
As for wanting the rest of the money, that shows they are experienced with people skipping out on them :
Ask what kind of cameras they are using and to see some digital images from their set up -- maybe digital would the way to go?

Yeah I have.. We have seen there work and I forget what digital camera they use.. I did the research on them, but from some one that has never had some one skip out on them, they don't understand.

She may look for a pretty long time for such terms with no end results. No pro would do that, AFAIK. He and his team would spend time and efforts for 25% and then she'd get a cold feet or something and decide to change the terms on the pictures...
You guys may end up with some n00b who'd agree on 25%, take the money and either flake you one hour before the altar time, or the picture quality would be abismal.. As they say, you'll get what you're paying for.
It's *your* *wedding*. Reshooting is possible, but could be rather costly
