For those who've never seen it...

The orange building with the smokestacks is a (small) part of Kodak Park in Rochester, NY.

I was walking my son around the neighborhood and snapped this while walking down Flower City Park. I was going to go up to snap photos of George Eastman's memorial/ grave, but the boy was getting antsy. Maybe some other time!

    Hey, Hobbyist!

I'm a former Rochestafarian, myself. Lived there from 3 till I was 23. I lived one block south of Highland, near Cobbs Hill on Oakdale Dr.

Nice to see the old town. I think your pic needs a little pop, the contrast is a touch flat (I know, I know, it's Rochester--it's supposed to be drab!).

Believe it or not, I did pop the contrast compared to the original.ne_nau.gif Of course, today was unusually warm and there was this giant yellow thing in the sky that we don't usually see in these parts. But I'll play with it some more and see what I can come up with.

EDIT: here's a quicky... better or worse?

Nice shot of part of the old Kodak empire It's so sad to see how far the mighty have fallen. I was shocked last time back. So many empty, abandoned buildings. So many ex-Kodakers. :cry

Like David, I too am from Rochester. Born there and left at 7. I have lots of family there. We had a family reunion there last July (god was it hot and humid) and had 103 Cavigliano's in attendance :uhoh .....lol My daughter lives there and called me this morning to tell me since it was going to be 78 degrees, she wanted to bar-b-que. I listened to this while looking out the window at our 25th or 31st day of rain this month. You guys stole our weather.....Laughing.gif

Red/Pork Hots, Abbott's Custard, Al's Italian Lemon Ice, Friday Fish Frys binge.gif If it wasn't for the Summer and Winter, that place could be paradise...Laughing.gif

I took these at Frontier Field last time back ylsuper.gif

Welcome to DGrin and thanks for sharing this pic :D

    Steve

Oh yeah, I lived on Myrtle St. Back when it was a nice area......lol

Laughing.gif Just goes to show how old I am. When I was a kid, my parents used to take me to Ackerman's for hots on Saturdays. A red hot was called a Texas hot and white hots were called Pork hots. That must have been back in the days when pork was still good for you....lol You know, back when healthy foods like Wonder Bread helped to build strong bodies 12 ways rolleyes1.gif

    Yum.
The Rochester White Hot is a frankfurter made with veal, pork, mustard, paprika and other spices, then charcoal broiled to order over a fire of hickory chips, and served with a sauce that blends onions, peppers, relish, vinegar and molasses. The effect ranges from a blowtorch to a forest fire, depending on the aggressiveness of the other garnishes selected.

Laughing.gif...For years, everytime a relative visited, they'd bring 20lbs (10lbs of each) packed in dry ice. Talk about being a hit at your Summer bar-b-ques rolleyes1.gif Now if only Abbott's would ship to the West Coast :eat

I think we may have hijacked this poor man's thread. I hope he doesn't report us. :hide Hey, we're just members of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce :D
