Everything looks great, you should be happy with the 30D.

Looks good! What I *really* want to see is the same shots with a 20D and a 30D (not that I expect you to do it!).

Just the fact that it doesn't have folders for every 100 pictures makes me want to upgrade though! :):

Hmm, I wonder if it's compatible with the 20D "L" bracket I just bought from RRS...

    Looks great, color and clarity.thumb.gif
I sure wish I had one! Would also love the larger view lcd screen.
Do you know how many changes are included in the 30D compared to the 20?

Chris, I just read what you said/100 pic folders? My 20D doesn't do that.

I highly doubdt there will be any difference. Lens and processor are same, why would they differ?ne_nau.gif

Trust me: LCD and buffer size are much bigger reasons for upgrade.
100-pics-per-folder issue was only a matter of runnning the search across the CF card...

As far as I could tell, the form factor is identical, so your L-bracket would most likely fit like a glove:-)

For the exact number of changes I think you better turn to the real experts.
    For me it was:
    1. Bigger buffer
    2. Bigger LCD
    3. Longer battery life
    4. Finer/better ISO control
    5. Geek factor:-)
Oh, and about 100 pics - yours does it,too. 20D creates a new folder every 100 pictures. No known way around it :-(

ha, I just realized I hadn't taken more than a 100 pics since last summer, and forgot that if did that. Thanks ;~) Yes, I now remember how that was a pain remembering which one was what ...had to change the folder names once taken to the PC.

Seriously considering selling the 20D with a lens and getting the 30 D, sounds great!

It was not a BIG pain for me, since I was using Search method and was reformatting CF card quite often, so the older folders got deleted (they were eating CF space, in case you wonder why).

Less than a hundered pictures since summer.. Man... Ain't we all different? :D

Ahh, shows how much reading I've done on the 30D (i.e. none). I haven't wanted to look since I've been happy with the 20D. So it's mostly just a point version upgrade. 20D.5.

Since it's the same proc... maybe they'll upgrade the firmware with the 100 pic per folder fix! Like you, it doesn't really bother me... just an annoyance that should never have been there to start with.

    Very nice shots, Nic.
Just got the 30D last night. Not much chance to play yet, but I'm happy.
I also have the 20D, and find the 30D was certainly worth the purchase.
(actually 2-one for me and one for my mrs.).

Yeah, I was kinda sleptical initially, but then read and thought more and decided to jump ship:-)

    Congratulations on your new toy(s)!thumb.gif

hehheh, well actually, I meant per day....thumb.gif They get uploaded and deleted before the 100, I guess.... I've taken a few, like 10 gigs since then.

I've never formatted a card. I couldn't figure out a reason to? Do you use a card reader? My reader erases all the photos if I want. Does that mean it formats it for me? Well, me learns something new each day! ne_nau.gifrolleyes1.gif Seriously, I've never had to format.

Aah, per day.. [sign of relief]

Check you card. You may have accumulated dozens of empty folders, but even empty they eat up card's space. Formatting card in the camera is usually even faster than deleting all images..

Thanks Nik, I guess I havn't even noticed files being a problem. I'll check that out and format one of them. thumb.gif I've been transfering sometimes over to my Epson media storage, so havn't kept count of any differences in storage space on the cards.
