Anyone out there know a lot about these?

Looking for some tips for someone with experience and maybe a nice glazed pot for one.
I just bought a Japanese Black Pine for indoors and a Japanese Maple for outdoors.

Always loved these and thought I'd give it a whirl.
I tried a deciduous indoor once and it didn't make it! :rolleyes

Any help would be appreciated!

Mighte be able to help on this one. Like you Don bought a bonsai to keep indoors, won't work if it is tree that is suppose to be outside. Not the easiest thing when you have cold winter and those nice shallow pots, we bury ours for winter and put a good layer of much on top. Broke Dons heart he couldn't keep it parked inside where is could salivate over it:D Arboretums that have collections have pretty cool setups and they also have very, very experienced folks to take care of the trees.

Go to http://www.gardenweb.com/ they have forums specificly for Bonsai and J maples. We probably have an easier time with the maple since we are zone 6. One word of advice..J maples bud up EARLY and make a nice feast for wilds and are also prone to getting nailed by that late frost Ohio seems prone to. Most of ours are big enough that some bud nibbling is 'ok' small ones are fenced. Not sure what Zone you are but yours might need to be put in an unheated garage in winter, if potted, or provide other protection if planted. Most JMaples are only reliably hardy to Zone 6.

Anyway trundle off to the GW forums, great folks with tons of experience.
