Looking for some help from any Canon 10-22 or 16-35 owners. I use a top-loader bag for my dSLR. Lashed to the side of it I keep a detachable Lowepro Lens Case 3 which holds either a long zoom or a couple of mid-range zooms and/or primes stacked. I find this system works really well. I've recently aquired an EFS 10-22 w/ hood and would like to add a lens case for that to the other side of my top-loader.

None of my local retailers seem to cary much of the Lowepro line, so I'm reduced to ordering over the 'net. I'm trying to pick which case is probably the best fit for my lens. Ideally I'd like to fit the lens w/ hood (reversed is fine) in the case. I measure the hood (EW-83E) to be 4 3/4" (~12 cm) at it's widest. I don't have the lens w/ me, but all the specs I can find say the lens is 3.5" (~9 cm) long. That sounds short to me.. but it doesn't really seem to matter, the lens hood's diameter seems to be the hard part to fit.

The closest fit seems to be the lenscase 4S, which is spec'ed at 4.25Dx6H in (11x15 cm). Clearly the depth/height is fine, but I'm concerned about the it being a full 1/2" too narrow.

B&H seems to recommend the Lens Case 1 (3.25D x 5H in. / 8.5 x 12.5 cm) which is a full 1.5" smaller! .. That recommendation has to be for the lens w/o hood..

Any thoughts/experiences?

Thanks..
