Wide Angle - EF Mount

I know the wide side has been discussed plenty before. But perhaps my question is unique, or perhaps someone can point me where I need to go.

I've got a 5D and a 20D and I want to go wide. I can't buy the 10-22 Canon lens, cause it's EF-S and won't work on my 5D. I understand the crop difference between the two bodies, and I need something Super wide (For architecture, landscapes, etc.) on my 20D, but would like a really wide lens for my 5D as well (Making it even wider). Currently the widest I have is 28mm, and was looking at something about the price of the 10-22, but couldn't seem to find anything. I'm extremely unfamiliar, but not opposed to, third party lenses, and their lens mount systems. I couldn't tell if sigma's equivalent was EF or EF-S compatible.

TIA

Mods: does this belong here or under cameras?...

    Sigma 14mm (two versions w/wo HSM) ??

    http://www.adorama.com/SG1428EOS.html?searchinfo=sigma%2014mm%20hsm%20canon&item_no=1

There is also a 14mm f/3.5 non HSM version. I'm not sure they still make this model..but it's easily found used. KEH, etc.

Tokina makes an AT-X at 17mm also.

Sigma's 10-20 is for 1.6x cameras only. They do have a 15-30/3.5-4.5 that'll work on all bodies. Tamron makes a 17-35/2.8-4. Canon also makes the 16-35/2.8L (and older 17-35L) if you have some extra cash.

    Sigma has:

Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG Aspherical HSM

which should work on both, except some say it misses focus on the crop-factor cameras, requiring manual focus. Expect vignetting on full-frame cameras.

I can vouch for Sigma4Less and BandH Photo/Video that they both would try to make it right if there are problems with focus. You might send lenses back at your shipping expense, but both of those firms will work with you.

I'm sure other companies will as well, but those two I have first-hand experience with remediation of faulty or mismatched equipment.

You should be able to get one for under $600 USD.

Good Comparison between Canon 17-40 and Sigma 15-30

I hadn't really thought about the 1.6 Crop... and what the 10-22 was equivalent to (16-35) - But I'll have to try out that range on both cameras, and see if I like them. I do like primes, so I'll consider the 14, 15, 16 range as well. Although I'm most excited about the 17-40mm f4/L.

Sweet - That's more what I was hoping for. I wanted a little wider than 16-17. This looks sharp enough as well. Vignetting is a constat problem (I've found) with the 5D and some of my lenses. Seems inherent and an acceptable and manageable compromise.
