On the Kentucky side of the Ohio a barge sunk few months back.
Took them this long to finally raise it these are shots of the linkage on the huge barge doing the work.
Took a week they had to raise it a little while pumping out sections.
This was like a party barge so lots of junk in the water even a pop machine.

I like the smooth water in the first one, very cool having the block come out of it. Pity the block is blown. Maybe a second, shorter exposure to protect the highlights, then layer?

Yep the block is blown never noticed.
Sometimes when I look at these type of photos I get mesmerized by the water...guess I wasn't paying to close attention.
Ill see if I have another exposure.

    Thanks

The colors rendered and the smooth water effect in both are super!!!! It's neat to see something so huge and metallic turn out so "elegant". I'd say the cameraman knew his stuff!!! Could have easily been a boring shot. Excellent, Fred!!!clap.gif

Your not one of those guys that dives in the river to hook these things up ?
I stood there looking at cables wondering who in the world would dive down there in that nasty cold water and hook up this barge headscratch.gif :crazy

    Thanks

Ok here my try with David's suggestion to help with the blown out highlights posted by Rutt here's the link

I used the second method the one with the little girls.
It seemed to work pretty good not perfect but better.
The block had lots of grind marks which is why it was over exposed in the first place.

I did just what was it the tutorial and nothing else
I think playing with brushes and the clone stamp would also help this photo.
And maybe spend a little more time on choosing the color
Here they are side by side

    57576818-M.jpg64192745-M.jpg

    And the large version

    What do you guys think?

Pretty good. You changed the blending mode to color? Did you reduce the opacity after applying?

Here's what I got. What do you think?

    David
Yes changed to color and reduced the opacity also
I am working on it some more but when I get the color to match better
it kinda looks like a big patch over the area.
I'll post anything I think is better
    Any suggestions ear.gif

    Ok one more time :D
Here's a new version did the same thing but got the color closer.
And I did add some grunge to the block to even the patch
This is a very handy way to do something like this
I will keep it in mind

You did great. You were going for something I didn't even think of. I never thought or intended that you would get rid of the sun shining on the metal, just reduce the blowouts on the highlights. I like that the sun is catching it, I just thought that you could cut back on the glare.

What you did is nice, too, just much more drastic a change than I was envisioning.
