I was about to buy a pass through their website, but the first thing they ask is if I have a promotional code.

Any hints on how one gets those? :dunno

    DealTaker.com - "KROGER" = $5 off

I know they offer senior citizens, etc. discounts, and that might be primarily what this is used for.

Thanks! I haven't tried it yet.

In the morning I'm going to call the hotels we're staying at. Perhaps they have codes of their own. I'll let you all know how it works out.

Update: 7 Apr. Neither hotel knows of a promo code for the pass.

    KROGER no longer valid. :cry

Since neither hotel knew or admitted anything about a promo code, I bit the bullet and ordered online. Besides the $50 for US residents, there is a $3.95 mailing fee (this, for a card and a little booklet eek7.gif ).

Also, for anyone doing this rather than paying at the gate, they take 15 days to ship - so give yourself enough time. Credit cards might not be accepted at the points of entry. Cash only they warn.

There are 17 Parks in Utah alone that accept the national card. State parks will incur an additional entry fee.

REI usually has them for sale, but they are $50, no dividend on it.

    Thx for the info David.

I will have to get one. Since I live in the southwest and have some trips later this year, this will save me some money :)

Thanks to your heads up, I bought my pass at REI today.

Then I bought a compass, a backpack, 4 maps of different parks, a pair
    of sunglasses.
Then the wife bought some stuff. eek7.gif

I love REI. It carries some of my favorite types of products. Things in which you put other things. That's why I love the hardware store, too. And camera bags. I love things in which you put other things.

And I had no idea that REI had the things for sale in their store. I'm going there next week for hiking socks. Could'a saved the $3.95 11doh.gif
