Photo sorting/arranging problems

OK, I have been trying for the last 30 minutes to sort some pics in one of my galleries & its totally messing them up. I will drag them where I want them to go & after im done, they wont be where I left them after saving.

Tried both "arrange mode" and "arrange photos". VERY frustrating to work on a gallery sorting things & come to find out it didnt take. It also changed the sort direction to Ascending, when I had it in Decending. So now, they each act like the other. What gives with this?? I have done this a thousand times & never had any trouble.
