It's not unusual to need to do some wacky curves with IR, or some masks, etc...

Where these taken with a ir camera or worked with Photoshop? The second shot is better but seems very brite on the bottom to me.

http://dgrin.smugmug.com!
It's also a really wonderful shot.
I loaded it into your gallery (same one as the others...)
OK, so...
opened in Adobe Camera Raw, set the wb, and -1.75 exposure

in photoshop, basic bw conversion:

in photoshop, recover the highlights (the grass comes back nicely, and so do the edges of the pine trees):

in photoshop, a luminosity toning (22%)

in photoshop, a little bit of low-opacity cloning on a new layer, to repair the fully blown and not-recoverable chimney. I simply used part of the cottage near the door, at about 50% opacity on a new layer, and cloned over the blown areas on the chimney.
all in, about 5 minutes - but I do this for a living. I'd work it much better, this is a printable shot, E, if it were mine I'd spend some fair bit of time on it. I'd go a bit less dark on the grass. And a tiny bit less on the house color. Probably do this by going with a 14% luminosity toning layer, maybe as low as 10%. I do like the darker sky. IR skies should be very dark IMO. Oh to get that, I did a final curves layer, only working the sky bits.
I hope this helps!

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Harry, I am lucky to live 5 minutes from this place. Planting Fields is full of Ir goodness as Andy would put it..

Hi there Mr 4labs I see Master Andy has responded to your post in a very helpful way .......he's a good boy
I like these coloured IR Shots you folks do, and that little cottage is just too cute ........ I see Harry's been to the same place.
Blown hightlights are something that I struggle with too, but glad to see you got some good help to sort that out........ Skippy (Australia)
