Call for Photos!

Alright folks, SmugMug is making a call for some of your most amazing bird photos.

Here is the scoop. We currently highlight all the cool themes offered on SmugMug at www.themes.smugmug.com We link to this page from various spots in our help section, promo pages, as well as when I demo to potential partners, this is the page I use.

We are looking to highlight our new 'Gradient' theme with birds, any and all kinds of birds!. Please post links to 1 or 2 of your top selections.

FINE PRINT: Only give us photos that you don't mind folks getting the originals of. We need to let people access the Originals. They are for use in the Themes Gallery but not elsewhere. The files should be at least 1280 pixels, no frames, borders, or adornments. Many people go here and download as a test. :thumb We'll put a "photo by" and your name in the caption...

We will choose around 30 photos.

Thanks,
Markham

I don't understand why they need the originals. I basically understand little right now, but people do make a big deal about originals and "theft".

So, what you need is a selection of our best bird shots, the ones we do not care if they are "stolen", so to speak?

    ginger

That is OK, anyway. I cannot pick out any two BESTS, it is if I have what you need, I would look to see if I have one, but "best", that is a personal thing, IMO.

    Harry has the great ones!

Mine are often landscapes with birds. I take relationship shots, I try to anthropomorphise and show how the birds live. The things I am interested in.

If you have a hole to fill, "call" me.

People visiting the http://themes.smugmug.com are looking at SmugMug as a possible service. They want to see full size shots when they can.

Ginger you have some great shots. Good work.

To answer your question about why we want originals? It is not a *huge* deal that we have your original, we just don't want to worry about turning on right click protect, or watermark, or anything that hinders the viewing experience in this gallery.

We would like to make it easy for people to download, print or do whatever they want with these photos as it might be their first taste of SmugMug.

    Thanks,
    Markham

OK, I will throw three in, I picked them from the calendar I did from last year. I do not have many raptors, others have many more.

I have Snowy Egrets, Great White Egrets in abundance. Here I am trying to put in my better bird shots that might be a bit different. I still think I could fill any holes you might have, except in the area

This has a line around it, I will take that off and put one up without a line. It is a Green Heron. I find them shy and difficult to take photos of. I took one the day before yesterday, but I think this photo from last fall is better.

    64099475-L.jpg

Below is a Great Blue Heron and offspring: could have been one of my children when they were young....

    43962869-L.jpg

Below is an Oyster Catcher, taken at the beginning of Oyster season, those birds know the rules....... I could crop it.

    43963145-L.jpg

    Pelicans:

    15722238-L.jpg

Would life be complete without one of these? Every adult and child remembers a peacock in their life.

    21243128-L.jpg

I will "cut" the line off of the green heron and bring a "clean one down.

I do think he is a cool bird and one from someone should be in the group.

The originals are not available now. If you are going to use one, let me know and we can work out some way to make the originals available on that place, without making them available on my site, or something.

(I wouldn't do this if I actually sold this stuff, smile.)
