No backlight?

I haven't had time to read the entire Nikon D50 bible, (manual) and so far what I've read, I haven't seen how to turn on the CP's backlight. I don't mean the 2in. monitor... the one next to the flash.
On my N75, there's a place that you press behind the on/off switch to get the luminous green light to come on.
But, I can't find how to get it to come on in my D50. It's really helpful for this light to come on when I'm in the dark. But, I'm guessing this is not a feature in the D50 model. I hope it can come on somehow. I'd hate to have to carry a flashlight.:wxwax
Thanks!
