just tried a sigma apo 1.4X teleconverter on my canon 20d using my manual focus smc takumar 400/5.6 and it wouldnt take a photo-instead error 101 came up.

is this due to the camera thinking that there is no lens on the end of the TC?

any suggestions?

Wouldn't you want to use manual mode with a manual lens?

    usually not
the aperture prority mode works with a manual lens and with exposure compensation it gives me enough control- i like to be able to stop down and up without having to make corresponding adjustments to shutter speed.

so are people saying that the TC will work in manula mode,or not?

I have a 2x. Works manually or automatically. But the lens is slower when the 2x is attached. The bigger the lens, the slower it becomes with the 2x on it.11doh.gif
