I have talked myself into getting a 30D , I am retiring my pentax k-1000 after 25 years of faithful service ( my daughter wants to take up photography) and have been looking for lenses, currently on the old Pentax I use a 50 1.8 and a 70-210 zoom was wondering if anyone has any experiences with a Tamron Package ,I believe it is a 20-70/ 70-300 . I take mostly sports photos ,swimming , volleyball, and landscapes , but my daughter and a couple of her friends want me to try my hand at senior pictures . Any help would be appreciated Thanks in advance

Nifty Fifty (50mm 1.8) is always a favorite of mine. Could work really well for those portraits (on a budget) 85 1.8 would be nice. I have the Tamron 70-300, and I'm not too impressed with the quality. I bought a 70-200 L and was blown away. the cool thing about the 70-300 is the macro, and I still use it for that. It's decent enough and is fairly well priced... - But I haven't used the 20-70. Sounds like a good package for a budget. There are better lenses but these are good too.

    70-300 - taken during a bored moment.
