Seasoned Power, Kodak Picture of the Day
I have just learned that one of my photos of the Head of the Charles Rowing Regatta in Boston, MA, last October, has been selected by Kodak as their Picture of the Day.
The photo and a poster version are on SmugMug at http://dandill.smugmug.com/gallery/1376584
Kodak say the image in the poster "will appear April 21, 2006 on the Kodak Home Page, http://kodak.com, and every few minutes on the Kodak Times Square Gallery in New York City."
[ The Kodak link to the photo is http://kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=2549&pq-locale=en_US ]
The image was made with a Canon 10D using the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 USM L IS lens with the Canon 1.4x EF Extender II. I developed the image using RawShooter Premium 2006, and then in Photoshop CS2 I slightly rotated it to level the waterline, cropped, and then applied unsharp mask at 20/50/0 for local contrast enhancement.
I am a rower and know first hand just how hard this guy had to have been working. It is all the more impressive to me that he is 61 years old.

"It is a magical time. I am reluctant to leave. Yet the shooting becomes more difficult, the path back grows black as it is without this last light. I don't do it anymore unless my husband is with me, as I am still afraid of the dark, smile.
This was truly last light, my legs were tired, my husband could no longer read and was anxious to leave, but the magic and I, we lingered........"
