Shot "mid day", contrasty lighting. These were easy workups. I was out, Bill was with me, just went and relaxed "with the other birds".

All were shot with a very "long" lens. My 400mm with a 1 /14 extender. If anyone wants the exif, I could get it. I think the ISO was 400, I put it on
F 8 alot. It was on AV, the shutter varied, often at 1/250. Interestingly with the backlight, the EV was not that low. Especially not when the birds were backlit as were most of these.

Have a good day, comments and (UH!) friendly suggestions are always welcome! In good time, I will show chicks. For now, well, enjoy your eggs, smile!

I wish I had titled this "Easter Eggs". Has any person, birder, environmentalist, seen a prettier egg?

ginger (With that extender on, the AF is slower, so fewer birds in flight, but it sure helps on getting the details like the eggs, eyes on the birds, etc.) Magnolia is not a good place for me to get birds in flight, anyway. Not at the rookery. Different places, different reasons, different expectations. A marsh, now it is a dream to get a bird in flight, if the bird is "close" enough. But not with the extender on.

Lovely shots all, wonderful light. Hard hard, but I think 1&2 are my favorites!

    :): Thanks, Ben and Thusie!

Glad you are feeling better, Ben!

I noticed that the photo of the two birds together on the nest, worked up much later at night, it could use some more contrast, perhaps, but not a major thing.

Yes, Thusie, I love rim lighting (backlighting that throws that light rim around the subject, so I love the first one. On the other hand, those are the best egg shots I have ever gotten. Last year I didn't get any, maybe one, but not a good one. That 400 with extender has really helped me with my birds............they are almost as far away as PF's Indiana birds.

    Here's one:

    Jack

    It showed up!!!!

I saw that one, you put it up for the "call for photos". Cool photo!

Your egg is outstanding, quite literally, a very good egg.

The local Charleston Group is going to be there tomorrow, today, they are crawling all over that place. I read last night of times, etc. They go like 7 AM or so.

I don't want to go back for a week, but who knows. Might go to Boone Hall to try to photo the butterflys with the macro lens I have never used.

Thanks for commenting, posting and sharing,

That one came out ok, but I'm still trying to get lots of good shots like you do.

Hey Ginger, Next time you will have to climb the trees with your tree trimmers and remove those limbs in the way. :D Some nice exposures.
