Photos on TV

I really don’t know of this is the correct forum to ask this question but I give it a try:

What is the best way to display my photos on TV-screen and give me the best quality?

I’m talking about creating a DVD or (S)VCD with picture transitions and sound. Currently I’m doing something with NERO and that don’t give me the quality results I’m looking for, too much quality loss here.

Anyone?

Unfortionatly, "TV" and "Quality" don't go together.

You're used to an image made up of LOTS of pixels. Standard TV has so few that no matter what you do you're going to be disappointed. Even HiDef TV has fewer than just about any current computer or laptop display.

With all that, I hope that someone has more positive suggestions; i've never found a method that satisfies me.

You might take a look at Pro Show Gold.
I have had pretty good luck with DVD's on my big screen TV

Here's a good forum on using it.

It's interesting. Even feature films are usually finished at 2k, some now at 4k. 2k means there is 2,000 pixels across the frame, 4k means 4,000. That puts most digicams at higher resolution than many feature films.

I also recommend ProShow Gold. It's a very cool program.
My wife has made several DVD's with it, and the photos are sharp and clear on our tv.

    Thanks for all your help.

As I write I'm downloading ProShow Gold. I can't go wrong with the 15 day trial.

The price is very reasonable also. Not sure what limitations they put on the trial version.

    Update!
Downloaded ProShow Gold 2.5 to evaluate and play some with it.
Nero and Ulead Video Studeo 7 SE can go straight in the garbage can regarding slideshows.

My main issue was the final picture quality on TV screen and ProShow create for me a much more acceptable quality than the others I tryed. It's lacking some "easy to use" functionality but that price I don't mind to pay for quality.

So, now I can create VCD's, screensavers and executables with an acceptable picture quality output to "promote" Aruba with my pics.

Thanks you all for your advice. thumb.gif

A bit late here... but I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio+DVD Platinum Edition ($129.95 list).

It is by far the best digital video editor for the PC I have found. As a side benefit it works really well for photo slideshows as well. Lots of transition effects and adding sound is a snap.

I was about to give up and buy a Mac with Final Cut before I found this software...
