A couple waders

Practically gale force winds in the area today. Not very good for photo ops, but I was able to find a pond that was a little protected from the wind.

All taken with:
Canon 20D
Canon 500 mm L f/4.0 and 1.4xTC

Black-necked Stilt just coming into the area, a sign that Spring may actually happen this year.

Nice series Steve..but 700mm + crop factor. Too lazy to leave the house? Wow...that's some reach.

Great shots! Those stilts are as interesting as they are delicate.

From how low your shots are to the ground I'm beginning to believe you are either 2 feet tall or prefer laying on your stomach to standing :hide. Steve I am so jealous of your shots. I really like your style and you always have such great subjects. Maybe I can sell a kidney to get one of those 500's.

It is a lot of reach! Though I'm still amazed that I wish I could get closer to many if not most of my bird friends. I still can't get close enough to many of the duck species.:uhoh

Thanks Nick, I do have to say that it seems like either my knees or my belly always has a dirt patch on it when I come home from taking bird photo's.

Those Landscape photographers don't know how good they have it, being able to stand up and take pictures at the same time!

Excellent, I wish I could get low, bad knees, if I did I probaly
could not get back up.:cry I just moved from the 828 to the
20D and I miss taking pics at arms length, esp. low.
