for a Canon Rebel/20D

I took a bunch of photos with the 18-55mm kit lens, one particular location was very dark (inside a movie theatre) with only spot light - lighting available (was not able to use the flash)

...all shots were taken with Rebel at 1600 ISO and exposure ranged in the
F5.6 and 1/3 sec (handheld)

..based on this fun learning experience, I quickly realized that I desperately need a much faster lens with a reach in the 200mm range...
it would not have to be specialized for only low light settings, as I would also like to use it in normal lighting situations such as:

thanks for any input

    Canon makes a lovely 200mm f2.8 L

They also make a 135mm f2.0 L that is 1 whole fstop faster too.

    Both are less than $1K.

Canon's 200m f/2.8 "L" is a sweet lens. Love mine. They also use to make a f/1.8 "L" (white). You'd have to find a nice used one. Only problem is it will run you a few grand. eek7.gif:D For the money..that 200mm f/2.8 is a great lens.
