Sebastian - an ice hockey portrait

Still learning how to deal with such long and heavy lens while taking handheld photos. Overall I like the combination of the camera and the lens. I took 173 photos and only 5 were total write offs.
Canon 30D
Sigma APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG HSM
Exposure Time = 1/500"
F Number = F3.2
Exposure Program = Manual
ISO Speed Ratings = 1250
Focal Length = 200mm

    Good shot Ted. I have not done it but I've heard that shooting Ice Hockey is quite difficult. It looks like you had mixed lighting, his jersey is white but his face looks a bit greenish.

    Oh and you may not want to have your type in black because it is very difficult to read with dgrins default color of dark grey.

    Yes, the light was sparse and of some strage lamps. The yellowish tinge is most likely a reflection of a yellow stripe that goes around the rink.
