6 seconds.
I'm free standing for 6 seconds without much motion blur. I'm proud of that.
P.S. I don't smoke, that a straw in my mouth.
I tried an invert on this just for fun.

If I were to try this again, I'd put on a black glove on my right hand to
cut down on some of the brightness.
Maybe I'll give it another shot if I have some time.

It shows a start and end... I don't know how you did this -- you burned a straw?????
Great photo and concept!

...I don't think I could hold that still for 6 seconds. Nice.
Awesome...
this is the type of photo people need to copy. something that shows movement, rather than a stationary 1+ sec photograph.

Thanks everyone.
My wife helped out with this one. I couldn't get the camera to get a focus lock
on me because it was to dark. So Kate came out in a light jacket and stood
on a mark so I could get a focus lock. Then I switched to manual focus.
This was the 14th shot, and by far the best one. In all the others there was
a ton of blur.
As for how I came up with the idea, just think back to when you were a kid
and your folks would let you play with sparklers on the 4th of the July. You'd
draw circles and zig zags in the air. This is the same thing but with a match.
Erik, I think your right, it could be a good shot for the opening page for
my Smugmug account.
Thanks again everyone.
A B&W version (of the invert) with a little clean-up done to it.

Ohh I like that! Very nice! Like the original too!
Haven't even started on my ideas yet. Maybe at the weekend, been too busy

I think this b&w version is the best of the bunch. I wouldn't change a thing.

I think I'm going to stick with the original (real) shot for the challenge.
I guess I think it should look more like a photo instead of drawing.
But again, just for fun, one of the others from that night. This one has
a bit more burr, but the flames blended with my hand color really well.
Thanks again folks.

Thats an absolutely fab shot - just knocked me for six! I'd post the colour one asap for the challenge.

Very well done.

just love it
I love the flame movement but more so the lighting on your face. Rich, textured and inviting.
