Yup, I've been spending the better part of the past two weeks in the Carrizo Plain, Shell Creek, and north of Lancaster capturing the wildflower season. I even managed to get a tick embedded in the middle of my back from that last trip out to Shell Creek last week. But it was worth it (as long as I dont end up getting sick) to see that beautiful colors!

I am heading back out to the Temblor Range on Thursday to finish up the peaking colors. I just hope we see some more bush lupine and a few more poppies!

Here's a link to the first round of processed images from Shell Creek/Lancaster

(Which reminds me, how do I link my individual photos from Smugmug to the Dgrin forum?) Edit... nevermind. I figured it out thumb.gif

    Thanks Laurie!

Pezpix- I started at Carrizo went to Shell and ended up on the coast yesterday (14.5 hour day trip) Had ticks all over me.....no bites luckily.
It really creeped me out....I stripped in a restroom at Montana de Oro and shook probably 30 off of me and my clothing....ewwww! So if anybody else is going to visit take some bug juice with you to keep them at bay!

I shot that same windmill as you come into Carrizo....just a little different angle...

Heh, I know full well where you took that windmill shot. That is right at the edge of the Temblor Range right at the Northern entrance of the 7 mile road in Carrizo. Did you happen to be there on a non-windy day? Good lord, the winds were atrocious most of the time I was there! The colors just south of that area are amazing right now and I am really hoping they hold for just a few more days.

Glad to hear you didnt get the little tick infestation like yours truly did. Funny thing was, I didnt even find it for 3 days since it was on my back. The wife was the one who spotted that little nasty creature and had to pluck it off me. Yikes!

I love the composition you chose with your shots. Sometimes wildflower vistas can be very difficult to capture properly. Half the time, I was unable to catch the scope of the landscape and give attention to the individual flowers encompassing them. Nicely done!

I'll try to share more once I finish processing the .raw photos I still have from the trip.

Wow! That's some really bright stuff there (it's still gray in the Bay Area).

Nice stuff from both of you.

Thanks Ian! I have a feeling that the wildflower season in the Bay area could be a tremendous one considering the amount of rain you have recieved this year. I know the Sierras are just now seeing buds and blooms at the lower bases and I heard the Napa Valley area is seeing record mustard seed blooms all over from the heavy rains. Hopefully it wont be too much longer for ya!

Here's a couple more pix from Shell Creek.
