Modern Architecture

I have posted mostly pictures of old Madrid, so here's something a little different. This is an exterior shot of Terminal 4 at Madrid's Barajas airport. It was designed by Richard Rogers, an English architect and has been open for a few months.

If you like this sort of thing there are half a dozen more shots in my New Pics gallery on Smugmug.

C&C always welcome.

Cheers,

It's a nice shot. Shows the curves of the roof structure nicely. The problem
I have has to do with those two vertical supports on the left side. But I
don't have a recommendation for resolving it. It's almost as if the vertical
structure halts the "flow" of the image. Higher contrast would be good as
    well.

Muito obrigado, Toni. I'm afraid that's the extent of my Portuguese. The one time I was there, I could read it perfectly but hardly understood a word of what people were saying. :cry Sounds really different than Spanish. It was a neat trip, though. Caetano had just been ousted and democracy was being born. I was living in Franco's Spain at the time and everyone here was intensely interested at what was happening next door. I'd love to go back some time.

Right, back to photography. I shot this with the Canon 18-55 kit lens. I don't have a good wide angle lens yet, but that's next on my list. So many goodies, so little money...

Thanks Ian. I agree about the supports but couldn't figure out what to do about them either when I was shooting or in post (no pun intended). I plan to go back and shoot again, this time on a cloudy day and carrying a tripod so I can bracket. The lighting was pretty harsh when I shot this one. Hopefully I'll get it right next time.

    Great
    Hi

Love the picture, and making it in B&W really makes the form to stand. I agree with Ian that some more contrast would be nice. Bracket it if you can

This shot has been driving me nuts. There's a lot to like about it except
those two vertical poles. What if you shot at a wider angle or up nearer
the poles? You could use the angle to make them appear as if they go
    off in a different direction.

    Just a thought.

I'm afraid I don't have anything wider than 18mm in my kit, but next time I go there I will experiment with shooting from different points. Getting nearer might help, ne_nau.gif. I may not be able to get everything I want in the frame while keeping the poles out, but those are the breaks. Thanks for your suggestions, though.
