Last Sunday I test drove my new Canon 200mm f/2 L lens plus 1.4 extender. I bought a new monopod (since I hate tripods) because I was experiencing alot of camera shake. I was beginning to wish it was an IS lens!!! Unfortunately, I accidentally left the monopod and my eyeglasses in the car. So I was literally shooting "blind". Came out with some screwy exposures...high ISO's. But because I did shoot in RAW...I managed to salvage some! So if you are wondering why my DOF is so shallow.......I couldn't see to adjust it! Now you know most of the handicaps I was working with that day, aside from the fact that my name is not "Ginger" or "Harry".....(I think you get the picture!) These are my first "somewhat" successful bird shots. Our egrets in Seal Beach are not as pretty as Ginger and Harry's either....no long tail feathers here! Different variety, I suspect.

Spotted this fellow standing in the Marina reading the local trash.....at first he was a little far for my lens to reach...

Hey! Is that L glass you're using on that fine camera????

Well, in that case, hold that shot while I "fluff up" my finery....

There....that's more like it.

Ok...take your best shot!

How about a landscape???

All in all, I found him to be a very cooperative model!!!! :D

Congrats on the new lens/TC, Susan. It's a sweet lens. Hope you are enjoying it.

Some nice captures. That place looks just like the Venice Jetty over here in FL. Always enjoy shots of egrets. thumb.gif

That "blind" thing is NO EXCUSE!!! :uhoh rolleyes1.gif I hope you had one eye closed too. :D How about the rocking boat? ne_nau.gifheadscratch.gif Ok...shame on me for being a SA. Anyway ...looking forward to seeing more shots with that fancy new "L" glass.

Good captures. Your exposures on the 3rd and 4th shots were dead on. thumb.gif You got some hot spots in the last two. Not too bad for shooting blind.
