This is a cut and paste from an EXPATS website I belong too.

It could really affect us all if this bill is passed and lets face it this regime does not inform the public of bills up for passing in congress as in years past.

According to Snopes , this is true:

Do you buy books online, use Google, or download to an Ipod? These activities will be hurt if Congress passes a radical law that gives giant corporations more control over the Internet.

Internet providers like AT&T and Verizon are lobbying Congress hard to gut Network Neutrality, the Internet's First Amendment. Net Neutrality prevents AT&T from choosing which websites open most easily for you based on which site pays AT&T more. Amazon.com doesn't have to outbid Barnes & Noble for the right to work more properly on your computer.

Politicians don't think we are paying attention to this issue. Many of them take campaign checks from big telecom companies and are on the verge of selling out to people like AT&T's CEO, who openly says, "The internet can't be free."

The free and open Internet is under seige--can you sign this petition letting your member of Congress know you support preserving Network Neutrality? Click here:

A list of all the ways you might be affected by Net Neutrality is located on the bottom of this link:

I ashamed of Verizon for this, but this is what I would expect AT&T to do. AT&T has also been making their users e-mail messages (both in and out) available to the NSA.

I do get tired of some of these, but then again there are some that you can't (or shouldn't) take a passive interest in either. Thanks!

Jack you make a good point. It's funny that Congress does not represent the people anymore with things like copywrite law, orphan acts, internet regulation, internet taxing, etc....

Maybe it would be easier to stop re-electing 60 year olds who don't have a clue. I was part of a write in petition to congress about ANWR and yet they approved pieces of their bill or whatever it is. Its about who has the most money to Lobby I guess.

Well at least a proposed bill put forth by Senate Republicans will solve the gas price "issue": $100 tax rebate...yeah, that'll make a biiiig difference rolleyes1.gif....what it will do is costs between several hundred million and a few billion dollars though.
