I was pleased, and surprised, at how this turned out, how much I like it. The background is just enough out of focus compared to the bird, plus
The shape of the "feathers". It is just a favorite, but I didn't get to it
til yesterday.

I posted this on the Charleston group's site last night. I think they liked it best. Called it Circle Of Life. Top bird: without eggs? Middle birds: eggs? Bottom bird, definitely chicks. Thought I would share with you now rather than wait. It is one of the more "crowded" trees in that area. I took it from a different perspective than usual.

I worked on Egrets, and a few GBHs all day yesterday. I don't care if I
see another one of these birds.............ever. And I am meeting people
at the rookery at 7 AM to spend the morning with these lovely birds.

Have a good morning!
comments would be cool if time permits.....otherwise, thanks for looking.

Nice job Ginger. thumb.gif That first shot is very nice. clap.gif It might use a bit of a contrast boost and messin' with curves/exposure. Seems a tad light/faded....but that could be my eyes or monitor?

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Love the first shot, Ginger. Looks like a ballet. Does need a little punch, though...too faded. The second one looks like an apartment dwelling! An egret highrise....thumb.gif

The first shot's the bomb (must be tough to track the subject with such a complex background), but the second shot tells more of a story on the stages of egret reproduction.

    Thanks, everyone!!

I just got home from BIRDS, and a couple of magazines.................and I sure do appreciate all the comments.

Am kind of confused on this punch up thing. I have a new way of working stuff up.........and I purposely hazed out the background.

I will try redoing it sometime next week. But I never sell anything anyway, you all are my whole audience............and me!

So do I punch up to make you all like it, or haze it, so I like it. I think. I mean I did.......

Have been up since 5 AM, walking for hours, am really tired, will upload and free up my CF cards then think about things....

One thing I am doing differently is using CMYK to sharpen the photo in the black channel, meanwhile lowering the other selective colors in the black channel: in layers (too hazy, why I don't know, if I don't do it in layers.)

The recipe is in the current Photoshop User magazine (that 10.00 one). I bought it to get this info.

ginger (the second photo did not get the same amt of attention as the first one did, so it would not be as hazy. Besides, it is not the type photo I would do that to.)

(Then I singled out the bird and punched him up separately. Then I singled out his skirt, without his head, and darkened it a bit with the highlight thing.)
After all is said and done, it is the sweet tea.
