Cynthiana Church

Last weekend took a little ride to Cynthiana Ky.
Found this old little church a couple of streets back off US 27.
Started shooting around outside the church.

A lady approached me (I thought she was going to run me off)
But she didn't she ask if I would like a tour of the church.
I said yes and spent the next hour of so taken photos of this old church.
She even wanted be to stay for lunch with all the church folks.

The light in the church was very low and I did not bring my tripod (I was on my bike)
Most were iso 800 so a little noisy.

They were getting a new organ installed
So she wants me to come back to shoot more when the church is not so messed up.
She and the church people were so nice
I wanted to do something nice for them

So I came up with these two layouts
What do you think?
#1 #2 both ...or go back and start over

I am doing these 8.5 x 11
I figured 8 x 12 was a little too big?

Little church history:
Built 1854 using native stone form Harrison County Ky.
The bell tower completed in 1859.
First people to get married were Ann to Mason both slaves.
It was a make shift hospital in the Civil War.

The organ in the photos is hand pumped
The lady told me that the organ would give some of the young boys
quite a workout because of a small hole in the bellows :D

Thanks
Fred

Very nice work, Fred. I like both but I think I prefer #1. I find the ceiling background of #2 a little distracting, as there is already a lot to look at here. I would try to put the upper left pic in #1 behind the main facade instead of on top of it. Might add a little interest, ne_nau.gif. I would also consider moving the title up and to the left a bit, though I'm not sure how you would handle the drop shadow.

Or you could just print it and go. thumb.gif

Very nice photos. I like #1 the best. #2 you can see too much of how you cut out the church building and placed it onto the background.

Fred these are very striking images. I like the first poster the best, the second is a little too busy looking with the ceiling. This will make a wonderful gift. thumb.gif
