Don't know if this should be postered here as wildlife or in the field & street as a scenic. Very little work was done on this image - almost no saturation work or sharpening. This is the sunset as it happened. Hope you like and thanks for looking...

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

I can't tell you what effect all your nice comments had on me. Yes I can - they quite literally brought tears to my eyes. There, I said it - I'm a wimp!
I agree, this is one of the best I have done, but I can't tell you just how stupid lucky I was to get this. There is a small park near where I live, right on the river. I was there, just playing around with my new 10-22 in the light of the setting sun (nothing good came of that). I was considering giving up and going home (my wife was waiting and I was already 30 minutes past the time I was expected to return home).
I started talking to a guy who had just purchased an XT and was confused on how to use it. We saw some GBHs flying around and saw three of them settle some distance up-stream. We decided to "chase" them and I spent about 10 - 20 minutes playing tour guide, showing him what to look for to find the birds (they are easy to spot once your eye learns what to look for). As we were walking up-stream to find the bird, the sun set and threw up this wonderful red glow. Walked around the bend in the river and there they were! WOW. I got 10 to 15 captures before the birds got tired of me (they are wild and don't suffer people well) and flew off. The one flying was the first to take off.
So, if it hadn't been for that guy being there and him being willing to listen to an old fart yammer on, I would not have been there for the event. I guess that'll teach me something about leaving before the last inning is over.
Glad you all liked it.
