*Challenge 24 - Dragons Tries*

This was shot today. I was hoping to wait for a nice day outside but for the past week all we have had is overcast days and today was one of the only days I had time. This was show at a local lake. Thoughts, ideas, should I try to find something else?

Dragon, a real nice shot. Although, that horizon has gotta be straightened. I'de say reshoot and level that horizon out! A nice capture though. Where did you shoot it?

*edit* hmmmm, for some reason the second photo didn't load the first time I looked. I really love the colors in this. I think this one needs something more to it though.

What I always do: Set that self-timer and throw yourself in the shot! Find a subject to be the subject, I feel like there needs to be something else there.

Yeah I took alot of shots today (trying to get the hang of this new camera). Here's another.

I used to feel the same way until I read a paragraph in one of John Shaw's books on Nature Photography and he said that he just loves overcast days in the fall because they allow you to capture the saturated colors with the soft diffuse light that bright sunlight just destroys with the highly contrastly light.

You just have to avoid having skies in your pictures when the sky is grey and overcast to avoid blowing it completely out. Even better than overcast is to shoot immediately after a rain - the colors are the most dramatic and saturated then - like for example ....


I like your first shot after you straightened it out - it just needs a little curves and maybe some overlay blending.....

What image editing software do you use? Photoshop, Photoshop Elelments, Paintshop Pro etc.....

I use Photo-paint10 the most but im switching to photoshop 7 and photoshop Cs.

I like these a lot. I tried to bring up the blues in them, but the second one doesn't have any color in the sky to work with. Here's an example of what curves can do with even a little color.

I like the first one. I would just like to see it a bit lighter overall. You could try adjusting your levels so that there is more contrast and it's more "punchy" overall??
