Any thoughts on these two photos taken today?

#1

#2

I am rather partial to #1 myself but #2 seems to be more of a "portrait."

Suggestions welcome.

Both pictures are wonderful.... I like #1 it looks like she is thinking about what to draw - unfortunatly the hand in the right hand corner is distracting.

#2 is adorable and works well for the challenge.

    Your #2 is excellent!
Slightly brighter will make it look really wonderful.
Crop half-way up the box at bottom to emphasize the face.

    Thanks Mark and Twinbnj.

Twinbnj, I agree about the hand in #1. Also, for a portrait, having her look off to the side is not idea.

Mark. You are right. It does need some brightening. I'll try the crop.

Thanks, both of you, for taking the time to comment.

They are both adorable, but I prefer #1! Who says a portrait has to be straight on? rolleyes1.gif

    Cheers!

You mean, beyond "Wow, these are dead-bang cute?" These are wonderful. I like the one above the best, though they both demonstrate a lot of the child's character.

Thanks Scott and Nee for commenting. I am totally biased about this toddler. She is my granddaughter and my only grandchild. iloveyou.gif Just about any shot of this kid (even ones that are out of focus) is a winner to me!!

OK. I have cropped both photos to an 8x10 format. #1 to remove the hand on the bottom right-hand side that distracted twinbnj and #2 to emphasize the head as suggested by Mark. I also brightened #2, which really needed it.

I fear that the context has been lost on #1 but would value your opinions.

I think the crop on #2 is an improvement, although now I find the OOF foreground a bit more distracting.

Thanks for looking and, if you have thoughts or comments, I'd appreciate them. I'm still deciding whether I want to enter the contest at all. There are already some wonderful baby/child shots.

This is still my favorite and the cropping did improve it quite a bit. There are a few baby/child photos in the challenge, but I think this is the winner among that group. Every time I see this image it brings a smile and all kinds of warm feelings.
