It would then be nice if we could move the 'most popular photos' section up or down as well (like all other sections on the homepage).
I can't grasp the notion of time.

When I hear the earth will melt into the sun,
    in two billion years,
    all I can think is:
"Will that be on a Monday?"

Thanks for the lead. thumb.gif Basicily you're saying I'm crazy, eh? The map button was there until you put the around the world thing in and I've been having the above customizations for a long time.
You did just put the button into the breadcrumb section with the latest update just to fool with me, didn't you? :D

Hate to bug you, but I'm having this same problem. I've removed the "Around the World" feature from my home page, but every time I go into my control panel I get the same warning they have been getting.

...and I must have really messed up the Lat / Long conversion because it placed my photo in Korea!!! eek7.gif

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

If your photos are showing up half a world away, check to see if you are missing a '-' on the long. For some reason when I load photos they are lost. I am still trying to figure out exactly what is doing it.

What is this, how does it work?
I went and got my key, pasted it in, clicked on "Save", the key disappeared and nothing else has changed. It says it is easy, takes just a few minutes, but I am totally lost: and I am in America!

Ginger, copy the key from google page, and paste it in the box on your homepage. Then click the "Save" button.

    Let us know?

Hey Andy, thanks for the quick response.

    My site is http://zenmoto.smugmug.com

I can get the images to map using the "Map This" button (yes, I needed to put a "-" minus sign in front of the latitude to get on the correct hemisphere, lol), but I still get the "key is registered to a different site" error when going into my control panel etc. I have removed the "ATW" feature from my homepage for now. The error message says to generate a new key, but there is no place to paste a new key that I can find. headscratch.gif

Thanks again, you guys are doing a great job!!!

Dale - so it appears, there's not a way to reenter a new key. That needs to be fixed - I don't know how long it's gonna take for that. For now, keep the map box on your control panel and we'll advise as soon as we get this remedied.

Sorry for the trouble and I surely wish I had a better answer for you.

Yeah, the map is up now, but some galleries seem to let explode his traffic. mwink.gif

I think I discovered an inconsistency with 'around the world'. It looks like this on my homepage:
    70404798-M.jpg

Notice that there are pins for Wittenberg, Bamberg and Leipzig. When I clicked on the Bamberg-pin I got this:
    70406007-L.jpg
No more pins for Bamberg - smugMaps apparently has generated a new image set that doesn't contains the original image set anymore. That shouldn't have happened, because now the user doesn't get what he wanted.
Should be a bug? If not, please explain this feature to me. mwink.gif

    Thanks,

I may let you configure how many you'd like and just let you deal with the complaints when you crash your visitor's browsers, but probably not. :)

We'll continue to play with it, though.

How about adding geography to an gallery? In my case pictures in a gallery are usually around the same geography. If all prtures in a gallery are in the same geography it wouldn't make sense to tag them all and get a pushpin for every one.

I just add geography to one of the most representative pics in the gallery... then the user will end up in the gallery if they choose it.

I really like this idea. I just ran into the 150 limit and was quite surprised. It's unfortunate that it only exports the 150 when you google earth it also. It'd be really cool if it provided amalgamation flags for areas with a bunch of pictures, say all pictures within some percentage of the area covered by the map, and then expanded to show individuals if you zoomed in. As it is, the older pics just drop of the face of the world (literally... sorry!:D).

    paulbrock wrote:
smugmug keeps getting better each update! Lovin' it. Agree the 150 thing is a bit of a pain though, esp if you've travelled the world, but then uploaded 200 local photos. Maybe some clever coding that picks 150 with the least overlap? Dunno how difficult that would be, then when you zoom in, you get rid of those that aren't on the map anymore?
Not just for around the world, but for the main maps too. E.g. if you go to maps.smugmug.com at this precise time it looks like there's no photos from Africa or S. America.

Don't think many people mind the 150 limit, as long as it's the most relevant 150, rather than the latest 150. Nitpicking though! Keep up the good work...
