An ex-resident from where I live posted a shot of Lanterman's Mill in my last Mill Creek Park thread. Here's one of my shots of it from a few weeks ago.

This is the bridge it faces. Many people take shots of the mill from here to get a top down angle. The above pic was taken while underneath the bridge.

I like the Mill shot. thumb.gif

I think I would have cropped about half of the sky and a corresponding amount from the right side.....to bring the mill a little closer and lessen the effect of the uninteresting parts.

    Good suggestion.

I actually tried it before settling on this one and to me it was too close in. The thing is that I need to go back when it's not overcast but on day where its sunny but with clouds. That's the problem with landscapes sometimes, you have to wait for the sky to cooperate to get a better picture.umph.gif

Here's a shot of it on a sunny day, taken from atop the bridge. The comp sucks, with shadow of the bridge and the annoying tree in the right foreground, but the sky was right. I'll go back and get it right someday.:D

It seems like there is always a fix in post. Since the mill is the subject, I see nothing wrong with enhancing it's surroundings. On this one, I did a color mask on the black areas and brought out more shadow detail with a tone curve. Then a little cloning on that ugly leafless set of branches, and finally a hue shift on the sky to a predefined "sky blue".
