my day job-
this is an ultrasound image of the left side of the heart showing
mitral valve regurgitation ( the blue jet)-
a leaking valve which is heard as a murmur-

It is certainly more colorful than a baby sonogram....but not nearly as cute!!! I get one of these tests evey year. The weird thing is hearing your heart beat when they pump up the volume! I have I.H.S.S. iloveyou.gif

    thanks antonio-

    saurora-

definitely not as cute as a fetal us-

what's amazing is I'll do these on 90 year-olds and what I see is a pump that has been beating for almost one hundred years-

I also am a vascular tech-
this is an internal carotid artery coming off of the common carotid artery (in the neck)-
the color helps to pinpoint any narrowing of the vessel due to plaque which can cause a cerebrovascular accident (stroke)-
this vessel is normal, or clean-

    Looking for more information
Thanks for the picture. I am a patient and am seeking more information. I recently had my second ultrasound on my heart. I was watching the monitor. I do not understand what I saw and would like to know more. How do youn intrepret the colors. Is there a good book on the subject.

    Thanks for you time.
