This is a knockout! I like the B&Ws, even. The school shots are really working.
    If not now, when?

Thanks Rutt. I'm starting to realize that great photos don't stem from a location, in my case China. I was wary of my ability to take photos that are important here in the States. If they're working, it lets me know that good photos exist everywhere, good subjects are all of us, and ultimately creativity lies with the photographer. But maybe I'm just lucky enough to be in another good situation. Who knows. I do know that I am still enjoying photography and that it is my great love.

Window light has made for great diffused light portraits for centuries before light sensitive materials were put to use to capture images in black boxes. Very nice Damon, I have always enjoyed your images - this one is paticularly nice with the blurred flag in the background and the smiling eyes in the portrait...

Damon, how do you gain access to the schools?

Also, can you use the photos? Do you need releases, etc?

    School
You capture people with their soul in it. Great shots. I do agree with you that nice photograps hare everywhere, ready for us to see them and pick them up.
The school pics are great. Such nice portraits of teenagers, who are default not happy to pose. You much have reached them that they are willing to pose for you. The portraits are very natural, I like the style.
Great use of light, and nice eyes everywhere.

They're obviously comfortable with you and/or the camera, I think that's why the Shanghai shots worked so well too..... great shots Damon thumb.gif
