Starved Rock IR

I went to Starved Rock last Sunday and took a couple pictures. For anyone in the area that has never been there it really is a beautiful place and is worth checking out. Here are two shots of Aurora Canyon. One with the IR 350D and 10-22 @ 10 and the other with the 20D and 17-40 @ 17. I liked the look of the IR in color with only white balance changed, no channel mixer. Let me know what you think. Both shots are from bracketed Exposures in camera. I'm still a major noob when it comes to landscapes so any advice is appreciated.

Thanks Fred, that means a lot coming from you. You won't miss the 10-22 that much, just get a 17-40. It's just about the same effective focal length on the 5D.

I haven't been there when it is full of water so I can't say for certain but since it was carved out by water I would assume it gets pretty full. The problem with it being full of water is that I would have been knee deep in it if the water was really flowing. This part of the canyon is around a bend and you cannot get to it if there is a lot of water. It was quite relaxing. Very quiet and peaceful.

I haven't really used it since last summer and I forgot how fun it can be. Well I think it is more the setting and good equipment than it is me inspiring you but thank you for the nice compliment.

I think that is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me. I'm glad I was able to capture the scene is a way that is pleasing to look at.

Thank you. I'm glad I left it in color, I think it really adds to the shot.
