I fought the tides and wind this morning to get out to the osprey nest. Took an entire hour ...one way. I think it was worth the trip. :D Shot another 3 gigs or so of shots. Thought I'd share a few that I worked up.
Thanks for looking.

Awesome photo's mate, I have just found a nest fairly close to me with what sounds like heaps better access too, i hope i can get a few pics as good as yours.

I still can't believe you get great shots like these with your 200 Mike. Once you get a 400 you'll be too close to the birds and will only be showing us portraits rolleyes1.gif.

Outstanding shots Mike. I keep forgetting that your reach us 200mm which makes these shots even better. thumb.gif

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Are you in a tree, how can you get the same level as the nests, very cool.

Im also in Florida, can you or harry tell me what the Big white bird with the Black forked tail is, Im never close enough to get a shot to show you a picture.

Thanks Nick. I was using the 200mm ....but also had the 1.4x TC slapped on also (280mm). I could have used the 200mm alone, but with the TC I got to keep my distance a bit more and get a better shooting angle....not to mention give the birds some space. I could use a 50mm if I wanted to prove a point...but like to take the birds into consideration. A 400mm would be nice....especially the f/2.8. I could not hand hold this lens however. Tripods don't work real well on rocking boats. :D

Yes..I'm still shooting with my fav 200mm. Had the 1.4x TC on there this time. Not so much because I needed it..but wanted to keep my distance from the birds...now that they are flying. umph.gif

Thanks Susan. I was actually invited for breakfast by the osprey. :uhoh :D I was asked to bring the orange juice and donuts.rolleyes1.gif

I think the juveniles will hang around for about a month. They are pretty bold already. I find them sitting on neighboring docks and trees. They are not afraid of people. This one juvy sits on the top of a flag pole. Too bad it wasn't an eagle and the American flag was flying. Laughing.gif.

    Thanks Cookie. I was not in a tree.....just a boat. :): I got the same level using my Jetson's space pack. :uhoh :D It's a secret. umph.gif

I'm not sure what bird you are talking about...but my guess is the Swallow Tailed Kite.(

    Thanks Ben.

They are well payed, Ben. They make 3 sardines, 2 mullet and a red fish an hour. They are talking about going on strike though. They want shorter hours, better work conditions and better benefits. I offered to have them all for lunch. They got a little nervous when they saw the new grill all fired up and nothing on the plate. :uhoh :D
