Me too, Kendall, I'd go back right now. First thing I'd do is go below the rim for shots. Second thing I'd do is pick a better spot for a sunset shot -- the competition's brutal! lol3.gif

I think I've stumbled on a way to handle the bright rock, so that the shadow aren't as deep.

To get rid of the deep shadows on bright rock, without overexposing the white rock, I've adapted Andy's color toning process.

    To Select your Shadows.

    Control-Alt-~
    This selects highlights.

    Control-shift-I
This inverses the selection - now it's the darker stuff that's selected.

    To Dodge the Humane Way.

Alt - Click on Layers palette, at the bottom, second icon from the right, the rectangle.

In the drop down menu, change the setting from Normal to Overlay.
Click in the Neutral Grey box.
    Click OK.

    Select your paintbrush.
Select an opacity of 10% (hit the 1 key.)
    Control-D to set default colors.
Type 'X' if white isn't on top.

Start painting like a mad fool over the dark bits that are selected. For especially deep shadows, change your brush opacity to 20% (hit the 2 key.)

When you're done, Control-D to deselect and admire your work. Click the layer on and off to see the difference.
    Sid.
