13th century Haghpat Monastery. Lori, Armenia.
Coolpix 8800 with built-in flash. Left index finger placed over flash to prevent flat lighting. The stone really is pinkish in color.

Nice. Did you set your exposure for the field and use fill? Or was it more complicated?

I did just that! I exposed for the field and used fill. Interesting how black the unlit area is. Should of tried this shot with no fill at all just to see what it would look like.

Excellent! I learn a new technique here almost daily. I must try this soon...Now to find a way to make this rain stop.

    Cool shot looks great thumb.gif
Next time try this...make two shots expose one for the dark arch
and the other shot for the background thru the arch...no flash.
    Then blend in photoshop

    Thanks

Thanks, that's worth a try. I didn't have a tripod with me when I took this shot but it wouldn't of mattered anyway because I wouldn't of thought of doing that in the first place. But I'll have one with me when I'm there again this Oct.
