Dividers

I still have the classic "which camera bag" problem. I looked at hunderds of bags in all price-classes and found nothing that really fit my needs.

I decided that It's better to look for a non-camera bag and make my own dividers. The small gadgets like batteries, filters, memory cards a.o can be stored in a vest for photographers or fisherman.

The big question is this:
Do anyone have some suggestions to make your own dividers? (Maybe some illustrated suggestions?)

Take a look at what I use, Dick. :D

Even though it hardly ever goes on my back, it's one of the best organizers I've found. Excellent craftsmanship and materials.

    Thanks for the tip.

I can't deny that it is a beauty but not really what I'm looking for.

I need a bag that can stock the following easely:
    D70 with 28-200mm attached +
    D200 + grip and with a 80-400mm attached +
    SB600 flash +
    3 medium sized lenses +
    some other small things

It's for those trips that I install myself on a location and need the most of equipment to make every shot possible. It is to carry my stuff from a to b to a and to protect it against sun, rain and dust.

Your suggestion is really great for one body.

    Thanks Daniel.

The "pitch" of the Karachi make me believe it's all that I need, the dimensions however tell me otherwise. The Tamrac looks a lot better. Both seem to have a bit trouble to configure the main compartment = body compartment. It's their way or no way.

Hmmm...I love to get my hands on the bags you suggested just to try but here on Aruba there is no way to do so. It's a lot of money just to order to see if it works for me. Consider that the Tamrac have almost a $100 shipping fee.

Thats a tough one...my Lowepro Computrekker, and the larger Computrekker plus could handle all that gear, EXCEPT you can't have two bodies with long lenses attached. I have two bodies, three lenses+one attached, and flash in mine, but only one has lens attached, the other is body only.

About the only thing that I think comes close is that Airport Addicted from Thinktank

Or perhaps a roller, like the Airport Security, Lowepro Roadrunner or Prorollers

    Hey Dick,

I carry a lot of gear...and not all of it camera equipment. I have a large Tamrac bag (Super Pro 14) that I really like. It's internal partitions/padding is extremely adjustble. In case you have not checked this company out.

    http://www.tamrac.com/welcome.htm

They are not the cheapest bags...but definitely well made.

If you are thinking of making your own bag....I would suggest looking into an appropriately sized insulated soft cooler bag. I use a couple of these for my medium format cameras. I just added my own foam padding to bulk of the protection factor. These are really cheap and offer good climate control...and protection. These are cheap enough you might consider buying an extra bag to use as additional partitions.

    Good luck.

    Thanks Scott.

I have a feeling that some bags from Lowepro or Tamrac may fit my needs. Still I'm a bit afraid to buy one to see if it's really what I need. They don't come cheap. A easy $400,00 is quickly spend + International freight + Import duties.

I decided to make a back myself. Next Saturday I'm going to pick-up a:
    * Samsonite weatherproof sportingbag for $55,00 +
    * two leather shoulderstraps @ $14,00 each (to create a bag pack) +
    * two high density padding sheets @ $4,00 each (to cut bottom and dividers) +
    * small material +/- @ 20,00 (need to make dividers)

So, I suppose to have a "dream bag" for about $111,00
