Thought you might like to see some pics from Ibiza. It is well-known as a tourist resort and disco scene, but there is another aspect to the island that may not be familiar to people who have never lived there.
Here's a view of the Old City taken from Botafoc, the new harbor area. I lived in the Old City for a time when I first arrived:
The Old City is surrounded by walls and you must pass through one of just a few portals to get in and out. This is the entrance that most tourists pass through (no cars allowed). It really looks more like Castilla than Ibiza. In August, it would have been out of the question to get this shot without a horde of people.
You need to be in good shape to live in the old city. The steps are steep and wildly uneven at times:
Some of the residents are not terribly friendly, though they are certainly used to people with cameras.
There is a similar part of town that is closer to the port and outside the walls. It is quite a bit poorer than the Old City and is reputedly not the safest place to be after dark. I never had a problem there on this trip, though I was very careful not to point my camera at anyone.
This is a side view of the main church in Sta. Eulalia, the third largest town on the island and especially popular among English tourists.
Finally, this is Benirras, one of the last relatively undeveloped coves and beaches that are accessible by car. I used to live a few kilometers from there in an old country house. The rails on the lower right lead to sheds for small fishing boats.
OK, ladies and gentlemen, that ends the tour for today. Drinks will be served on the terrace starting an hour before sunset. :1drink
C&C welcome.
Cheers,

Neat colors in the last one. All are very nice windows into a place I'd like to be.
Thanks.
Oh, and- dip in!

But how 'bout some of the stuff Ibiza is really known for: nightlife, clubs, and the world's best DJ's!!!

I'm way too old for that stuff, I'm afraid. I settled on Ibiza back in the hippy days and pretty much ignored the emerging disco scene. There has always been a high proportion of attractive people there. I'm sure you have seen some great pics of the club scene. As for me, I paid my dues on this trip by getting up before sunrise a couple of times to catch the morning mist.
Regards,
Thanks, Angelo. Glad you liked them.
Cheers,
You can hardly buy a loaf of bread there without being blasted with techno music. I love Ibiza but not what it has become. Don't know that I would recommend it to anyone unless they go with someone who really knows their way around. Hmm...maybe I should start some of business .
Cheers,
