We have what is being called the "Aussie Invasion" this weekend down here in Hobart. We have 40 Aussie Race Cars battling it out over the next two days. I was fortunate enough to have time to spend with these guys in the middle of town today.

Here they are lined up down the middle of the mall (20 of them anyway)

Here is a shot hopefully giving an indication of size.

Here they got to drive through the city streets (under Police escort)

As the name suggests (the little Aussie Racers.

More to come as the weekend progresses, will be there both days and hoping for some great action.

Some tech Specs of these guys:

Length - 3m (9.8 ft)
Width - 1.35m (4.4ft)
Hieght - 1.05m (3.4ft)
Top speed - 220 km/hr (137mph)
125cc Motorbike engine
Cheers

Absolutely correct Gus, brilliant to watch and yes I made a mess of the engine specs (long day :D) here is the correct info from the web site :

    1.2 litre twin-cam
    4 Valves per cylinder
    125bhp, 11500rpm

That was another typo. Nobody gets 125hp out of a 125cc engine. Nice shots of neat cars, just the same! thumb.gif

    Morning Gary,

Great shot am hoping to get some similar shots today and tomorrow. I made a typo on the engine size. Should have been 125bhp not 125cc :D

Do they all have to use the same engine, here in the UK they can use the FJ1200 or the FJ1250

    Hi Gary,

Am just putting all my shots from today on the PC. Yes, here the cars identical (made by the one company) and the winner is determined on driving ability alone. There was some very close racing today, shots to come.
    Cheers

Dave...here is one with some agro from last year mate at QLD raceway...i saw him going of his nanna & kept shooting.Got home & found this gem rolleyes1.gif

As usual though...i have no idea what the hell it was about. Man they are skitterish cars from the looks, they twitch & squirm all over the joint after watching the V8's which look smooth by comparison !!!

Just applied for another media pass this year..fingers crossed.

Fingers crossed for you also Gus, I got an email from the Indy crowd saying I am on the mailing list and will recieve paperwork in June ;) so with any luck could be heading your way.

Yes they sure are skitterish, but man I wouldn't mind seeing what I;m made off and take one for a couple of laps.

Great shot, I am just uploading a quick pick of images so to speak, included was a shot of the front tyre of a GT car rolling next to the back of the car. ooooops, worst thing was he was in the lead.
    Cheers
