Photo Misbehavin'

In this gallery, and only in IE. It takes an inordinate time to load and then if the cursor is passed over it it disappears and needs to reload.

Also-here (bottom right)-is a problem. When it is the 'featured photo' it appears as a red 'x'. (The gallery has no defined feature photo, so it appears only sometimes... hit refresh until it comes up, there aren't many photos in the gallers, sorry.)

thank you in advance,
leDude

    Hi 'Dude

Alot of the comments you made with the photos have body tags :nono Never more than one body tag per page.

When making comments requiring HTML, use html tags ( start with <*html> and end with <*/html>, both without the stars ) Fix that, and you might be problem free <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/thumb.gif&quot; border="0" alt="" >

( the body tags are already existing on the smugmug pages, so you, as user, never have to add them )

    errr :uhoh...

    <*html>
    <*body>
DJ Biscuit is making his return to the live stage at the uber-swank, internationally-flavored night spot, Baci Vini. (Flyer, Right)<br><br>

Where: Baci Vini + Locanda, Adams Morgan<br><br>

    When: Friday, May 26th 9:00 pm - Close<br><br>
    <a href="http://www.google.com/calendar/event?action=TEMPLATE&text=DJ Biscuit Returns!&dates=20060526T250000Z/20060527T060000Z&location=Baci Vini Locanda; 2436 18th St, NW; Washington, DC 20009&details=DJ Biscuit Spins Downtempo and Hip-Hop Classics"><img src="http://www.google.com/calendar/images/ext/gc_button2.gif&quot; border=0></a>

    <*/body>
    <*/html>

So this is my code... I should eliminate the <*body>...</body> and keep the <*html>...<*/html> ?

I was using Andy's example code for this workaround. It was working fine, so I'm curious why this particular photo is a problem.

Yeah, because only the <*html> is the sign for that there follows html-code which they shouldn't filter out. They don't touch anything in between the tag and therefore don't catch your additional <*body>-tag which can cause a lot of problems depending on the browser.

I did a little research... thanks for the explanation, I understand the folly of it now.

    Still got a problem with that photo though, hmmmm...<img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/ne_nau.gif&quot; border="0" alt="" >

Looks like SM has a problem handleing this particular image.
Drop them a mail to help@smugmug.com with a link to the gallery and also the following:
    http://ledudeprojects.smugmug.com/photos/69939570-M.jpg - displays just fine

but the small version (http://ledudeprojects.smugmug.com/photos/69939570-S.jpg) is sometimes no loaded correctly by IE (has to be a specific problem with the orgininal image format)

Therefore also the tiny version has problems I guess, which results in the 'red cross' image you describe.

Can't really put my finger on it - sometimes it works, sometimes not - also the load time for this particular image is very looong. ne_nau.gif

Maybe an engineer has time to look at it.

try "Create 2nd Copy" which will regenerate all the sizes from the original.... then see if the new ones have the problem.

Smugmug Help said the same thing... actually, the problem image was a copy itself from a 'press materials' gallery, so I was able to copy the 'original.'

    It worked mwink.gif.
