Andy and everyone who made the 2006 shootout possible,

Thank you so much for a great trip. :clap Just got home, and started downloading the 1000+ shots from the laptop. (as post-processing panic ensues) :uhoh:bash

It was great meeting everyone. I can't wait to see the shots start flowing in.

    I'll second that one.

The trip was amazing. The landscape was beautiful, the people were friendly, helpful and funny, and being able to learn from Marc and Dave was an awesome opportunity.

Thank you for providing this opportunity and for all the hard work you put into making it happen.

I agree. Thanks to everyone involved with this trip.

I'd like to thank the folks that were dumb enough to go up to Angels' Landing with me.
I put the bug in Marc's ear to go up there, and I'm paying for it today.
I just hope the people that are younger than me are stiff too. :D

    Hitting Arches tomorrow.

I'm tired and sore, but this one thought keeps me going, I'm on vacation. :D

    Dave,

I'm at a soreness factor 9....so I hear ya. It was worth it though, right?

Have fun in Arches. I wish I could have joined you guys, but I couldn't take any more time off from work. I can't wait to see your pics from it.

Hey, we were walking together and you beat me to the top. I'm completely wiped out from the trip, especially from the Angels Landing hike. It was great to meet everyone, that alone made the trip worthwhile. Have a great time on the rest of your trip Dave.

    Hi all
I got home as the sun rose this morning, grabbed a couple of hours sleep and am off to see my daughter's soccer team play for a medal in the tournament they are in.
I really want to echo the BIG Thank You to Smugmug and to ANDY, Marc and Dave, Joe and Mary for making this possible. I had one of the best times of my life. The scenery and hiking and all of that were soooooo overwhelming, I think I am going to wait a week or so before I even start to go through photos. Right now I am feeling overwhelmed by the scenes and by all of the rest of your work, and underwhelmed by my own photos!!!!!
I enjoyed the company so much. Thank You all for your hospitality and warm friendship - I have always felt like this was my peer group, but now I can say you are my friends.

    Thanks for a Great Event
I would like to thank Andy and Chris and everyone else who was involved in the 2006 shootout. Mary and I had a chance to meet a great bunch of SmugMuggers from all over the world and we would like to thank you for your hospitatlity. Big thanks for Jim & Cathy for the loan of the battery so I could make IR pictures with my Canon. Thanks to Jeremy and Lars for the photo rcovery software when the "dog ate my homework" and chewed up all of the images on a 2GB card.

I don't get to this forum much but anybody who was on the trip who would like to keep in touch please send me e-mail at joefarace@comcast.net or you can contact Mary at maryfarace@comcast.net.

I know we made an impression. I lost count of how many times I explained who we were and what we were doing. I handed out cards with my smugmug account and wrote dgrin.com on the back for those who were interested. It's a great thing we have going here, a symbiotic relationship that works all around, IMO. Marc was mentioning how cool it is, what's happening at smugmug/dgrin, and how there weren't a bunch of egos running around, but people who just wanted to improve their shooting. I give smugmug and dgrin a lot of credit for creating this community and giving it a place to flourish.

So I have a request - I know I did not meet everybody. Anybody got some good group shots to put up and put names to? I have a couple, but I'm not ready to deal with them yet. Give me a few days.

    Thanks

I agree 100%. There was a lot of "So, what are the red hats for?", and "Hmmm..there must be something cool to see here....look at all the cameras.."

Hehe blbl.gif. How'd that ND work out for you? I had an 8x+2x+Circ Polerizer on for part of the time and some of them look pretty nice, ordinary, but nice.

Worked well! Thanks for letting me borrow it. I'll post a few pics from that series here pretty soon.

It was a really cool trip. Very nice to meet everyone and put personalities to online names.

I just spent most of yesterday sleeping and havent looked at any shots from either the Canon or the new Pentax (Thx Joe!)

My plan is to put together a flash gallery on my site of the images I liked (yes including mule deer, wild turkeys, antelope, prarie dogs, etc....) and link it here in a few days.

I'm looking forward to next years trip

Hi Joe and Mary! Thanks for being part of the Shootout. clap.gif

I just pulled into the driveway a few hours ago. I didn't see any of those Colorado tornados while passing through.

We had a blast meeting you two, and finally placing faces with all the usernames here.

What issue of what magazine is the article for again?
