The Egg and I

Some of you might recognize the background of this shot. It was a pic I put on the Whipping Post last week. A couple of people liked it, but the overall response was that nothing in the shot really grabbed attention. Since I thought the scene felt a bit surrealistic, I decided to try to just push it over the edge:
So does that get your attention?
Cheers,

Why do you think it's floating in the air?
Cheers,
I thought about adding a shadow but decided that it would look more enigmatic without one. (That plus the fact that I did not have a clear idea of what a shadow would look like here .) Now that I see yours, I am going to have to rethink it. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this.

Eggsellent comment, Saurora.
Well, after seeing Andyman's shadow I just had to play with the pic some more. So I did a somewhat different shadow and while I was at it, cloned out a light fixture that was bothering me.
I'm sure that Andyman's version is more optically correct than mine, but in this case, I see no reason to be bound by the laws of physics. In any event, I'm having trouble deciding whether I like the shadowless version better. Please let me know which you prefer and why.
Thanks,
BenBo

Thanks, Denise. I was more of a TNG fan, but I see what you mean. The inspiration for this one came from Rene Magritte, a Belgian surrealist painter that I am fond of.
