Hello,

I've read the thread discussion on how to prevent images on smugmug showing up in Google searches but my question is a bit different.

I want people to find my site (http://fankle.smugmug.com) but when I Google for 'fankle smugmug' I get a link to a page of XML which looks like an RSS fee (maybe).

http://www.fankle.smugmug.com/hack/feed.mg?Type=nickname&Data=fankle&format=rss200

What is this page?

Is there anything I can do to my site which means that when people search for my site they are directed to

http://www.fankle.smugmug.com instead?

Many thanks,

Alison

wave.gif Hi and welcome to Dgrin :D

You're google results there are feeds. Here's some info:

To increase your google relavence - keyword the heck out of your photos. All of them. And have relavent gallery descriptions, and captions to the photos, too.

    I hope this helps!

I agree with Andy - I have OUTSTANDING luck with the album descriptions.
I would recommend a very detailed Album description - you be surprised of the results !

I have to say, right from the first moment i got started with smugmug, i have always added keywords and descriptions to photos and galleries. I never really did that to get more viewers since i just have the photos on there for friends and family. But occasionally i look at my stats to see what's going on, and i am surprised by the amount of people that find my site through google or other search engines. And searching for words ranks my site pretty high too

    couple other tips
The title of your webpage is key too-- and having others link to your site. Start a blog, and put a link to your site with every entry. Network and see if you can get others to link to your site (offer to link to their site, of course). Google also loves bigger text-- so consider a footer that has your name or photography name in larger than normal text.

I even sometimes include a link to my site as a photo credit on some galleries... which some of the search engines seem to love.
